ABC TV reporter Rigo Chacon, Santa Clara County District Attorney George Kennedy and football great Joe Kapp have been keynote speakers for the Barrio Conference.

Rigo inspired the audience of more than 200 high school students with personal reminiscences of the people helping him while growing up. He received a small scholarship from the San Jose GI Forum, saying "The amount may not have been much, but it showed that somebody believed in me."
